How to fade audio in or out
- Choose one local file. Open an audio recording or a video that contains sound.
- Set the fade times. Fade in starts at the beginning; fade out finishes at the end. Enter zero for either effect you do not need.
- Adjust volume. Leave 100% for the original level or lower it for a quieter result.
- Listen before saving. For audio, apply the settings and play the processed WAV. For video, check the preview and export the MP4.
- Review and download. Listen to the exported beginning and ending, then save the file. Keep the tab open while processing.
Example: soften a 30-second music ending
For an outro that ends abruptly, try fade in 0 seconds, fade out 3 seconds and volume 70%. The sound stays at the chosen level until second 27, then decreases to silence at second 30. The file is not shortened. For speech, shorten the fade if it makes the last words difficult to hear.

Questions about audio fades
How long can each fade be?
Enter seconds in 0.1-second increments. Times must be zero or positive, and the two fades together cannot exceed the file duration. Zero disables that fade. The fades change volume gradually with a linear curve.
Can I make quiet audio louder?
The volume slider runs from 0% (silence) to 100% (original level). It reduces overall gain without boosting or automatically balancing loudness. Set both fade times to zero to lower volume without fading.
Why does the audio preview still sound unchanged?
The first audio player plays the original file. Apply the fades to create a WAV, then listen to that processed result. Changing settings clears the previous result, so apply again before downloading.
Does this fade the picture or preserve the original video encoding?
The effect changes sound, not picture brightness. Video is re-encoded as H.264 MP4 at 30 fps; quality and file size may change. Original framing is retained, with up to one pixel of padding for even dimensions.
Can I download MP3 or use several songs?
One audio file produces 16-bit PCM WAV, which may be larger than a compressed source. One video produces MP4. There is no MP3 output, track mixing or crossfade between separate files.
What are the input limits?
Up to 10 minutes per file: audio up to 50 MiB, mono/stereo and up to 96 kHz; video up to 250 MiB with an audio track. Your browser must decode the source. Video export also needs WebCodecs encoding support.
