How to trim audio online

Select a local audio file. Listen to the original and locate the passage using its waveform.
Set start and end in seconds. Move the sliders or enter times. Choose Keep selection for an excerpt, or Remove selection to delete that interval.
Set optional fades. Use zero for no fade. Keep some audio in the result and make sure the fades fit its length.
Listen to result. Check the new beginning, ending and any middle join before exporting. The displayed result duration helps confirm the selected mode.
Choose MP3 or WAV and export. Play the generated file, then download it before changing settings or closing the tab.

Example: remove an interruption from a voice memo

In a 90-second recording, suppose an interruption runs from 20 to 25 seconds. Enter those times and choose Remove selection: the planned edit is 85 seconds, with the surrounding speech joined. Choose Keep selection instead and the edit contains only those five seconds. Listen around the join to avoid cutting a word or necessary pause.

Is this audio cutter free without uploading?

Yes. Editing and exporting happen in your browser without an account or credit charge. Processing code may download when needed, but your selected recording is not uploaded.

Which audio files can I use?

Choose a file up to 50 MiB and 10 minutes, with mono or stereo audio at a source sample rate no higher than 96 kHz. MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, Ogg and FLAC are examples; your browser must decode the actual codec.

What is the difference between Keep and Remove selection?

Keep selection exports only the highlighted interval. Remove selection deletes it and joins the parts before and after it in their original order. Removing the beginning or end simply shortens that edge.

Is an MP3 cut lossless?

No. Audio is decoded and processed at 48 kHz. MP3 is re-encoded at a fixed 192 kbps; WAV contains 16-bit PCM samples. The tool preserves mono or stereo, but does not copy compressed audio unchanged or restore lost source detail.

Where do fades apply?

Fade in and fade out apply to the beginning and end of the finished edit. Their combined length cannot exceed the result duration. Removing a middle section also applies short, 5 ms smoothing at the join edges.

Can I join files or select several ranges at once?

This tool edits one file and one interval per export. It does not join separate files or keep a list of multiple cuts. To save several excerpts, download each result before choosing the next interval.

Is Listen to result the exported file?

It auditions the decoded selection with its joins and fades before encoding. After export, use the result player to check the actual MP3 or WAV. Changes to times, fades, mode or format clear the previous download.

Why might an MP3 show a slightly different duration?

MP3 encoding can add a little encoder delay or padding at the edges. Use WAV when precise cut timing matters, and check the downloaded file in your destination player or editor.
